ISLE OF MAN GOLF UNION LIMITED 2011, REGISTERED CHARITY NUMBER 1064

NEWS

JOE Boyd relinquished the post of Honorary Secretary of the Isle of Man Golf Union after 12 years’ sterling service at the recent Annual General Meeting.

It is mark of the esteem Joe is held in by Isle of Man golfers that upon his, albeit reluctant, retirement from his secretarial duties, the Clubs of the Island chipped in to buy Joe a laptop computer as a thank you for his excellent work over that last dozen years. The presentation of the gift was made by the out-going Union President, the Venereable Brian Partington (pictured left), at the AGM at Peel Golf Club (18.01.2012).

The occasion was bitter sweet for Joe. Although he was losing the role of secretary, he was installed as the Union President for the next two years and it was a tearful moment as the chain of office was passed over to him.

Joe will have staunch support in his position at the head of Island Golf’s organising body from the incoming vice-President, Roy Moore (pictured right), a childhood friend and best man at Joe’s wedding.

New General Secretary is Colin Taylor, who will be receiving lots of input from the President as he settles into his new duties.

A full list of the new committee can be found on the Officials page.
